I
have contacted the BAC four times this week to find out about their
'Freshly Scratched' event. Everyday I have received some additional/different/collaborative
information and now I really feel I'm really getting something pinned
down.
So... it is a performance event for artists, that haven't shown
at the BAC before, to show work in progress. The length of the run
is dependent on the number of artists and the pieces, sometimes as
short as two minutes. Each artist performs once and it is separated
into one-hour segments. This time it is on for three days, 19, 20,
and 21 January. On Friday it starts at 7pm and on Saturday and Sunday
the programmes start at 6pm and 8pm each night. Maybe.
When I spoke
to them today the line-up had yet to be confirmed. Nevertheless Lee
Campbell was confident enough to announce in a mail-out that he would
be performing 'Compell Repell' at 6.15 on Sunday, which should be worth
seeing.
This kind of event is mixed bag and that is its strength. Pick
a slot or two and good luck. I do advise ringing a few times before
you go though to check it hasn't been cancelled, banned or moved to
Ibiza.
