A key figure in the formation of the new British political left in the 1950's and 60's, Stuart Hall went on to be a major contributer to the Birmingham Centre of Contemporary Cultural Studies in the 70's, focusing his work around issues of social and racial history in the UK. Marking his 75th birthday, Hall can be heard in conversation with Bill Schwartz, an ex-pupil, on the subjects of his life and work on culture, identity and politics.
